Open Governance
Exocore relies on a decentralized, open, permissionless, consensus-driven governance framework. Exocore validators run nodes that participate in consensus (Tendermint), which is designed to come to agreement on the state of the entire system. These validator nodes are permissionlessly elected by the amount of stake they have in the system. Validators can also choose to receive stake in the form of delegations from individual stakers. In addition to the standard role of verifying transactions via consensus, Exocore validators are also empowered to participate in the election process of AVSs in order to: (1) vote new AVSs onto the system, and (2) vote existing AVSs off the system. This gives restakers an extra layer of governance over AVSs on the Exocore system, which further helps to keep AVSs honest.
