Crypto-Economic Risk

While a formal description of the desired crypto-economic security guarantees will be included as future work, it is useful to highlight the importance of ensuring that all operations within Exocore are crypto economically secured, which includes calculating:

  • Cost of Corruption (CoC), which is the cost that an adversary must bear in order to lose a desired security property.

  • Profit from Corruption (PfC), which is the profit that an adversary gains from exploiting a system that has lost a desired security property.

In systems that use crypto-economic security guarantees, as long as the CoC exceeds the PfC, the system is considered reasonably secured. In future work we will go into greater detail on how Exocore approaches this.
